Our History
Since our inception in the late 1960s, Unigold has transformed from a small workshop at the back of a shop-house, into a factory with over 130 employees. The company has also endured periods of record high gold prices in 1982 and 2006; and the Asian Crisis in the late 1990s.
In 1964, our current Managing Director, Mr. CH Poon, took over his father's handcrafted jewellery workshop. He then started "Unigold Enterprise" in 1983, as a sole-proprietor. Later in 1989, the company's name was changed to "Unigold Enterprise Pte Ltd". This was followed by the incorporation of "Unigold International Pte Ltd", in 2003, which took over the business operations as a subsidiary company.
Following Mr. Poon's business philosophy, we have always been investing heavily in facilities and equipment, research and development, and human resources. Since the official birth of "Unigold Enterprise" in 1983, we have been increasing our operating capabilities; expanding our manufacturing size on 4 separate occasions. Today we operate in a building with total floor area of 17,000 square feet.
Unigold is also keen on reaching out to fresh markets, and in turn, broadening our perspective. Recent years has seen us participating in trade-fairs and exhibitions in USA, Turkey, and Japan. Our ability to adapt to the ever-changing economic environment has always been a factor in our longevity. And with elaborate plans to expand, Unigold is proving to be a stronghold in the business.
